Information You Send
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the separate provider that supplies results; our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. When you contact us, we receive the content of your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Our host records routine server-log information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review aggregated information to maintain the service and understand use. Cookies or similar tools can support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
We use this limited information to operate the service, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Links
Links can lead to county and state portals, library collections, archives, or search services. Information submitted there is governed by that provider’s privacy policy, not this one. The same applies to sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the period needed for the uses described here. No site account, password, or visitor profile is maintained by Troy Residents Directory.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has provided information, and we will remove it.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal data held by a service. Since we keep very little, a request generally involves reviewing the contact mailbox and server logs and removing information found there. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by New York state, Rensselaer County, or Troy offices are outside our control; direct correction or removal requests to the record custodian.
Policy Changes
Revisions to this policy will appear here. Continued use after a revision means acceptance of the updated policy.
